I was brought up with the view that employment is a two way thing, and honest days work for an honest days pay It should not in my view be the employer ripping off the employee as much as possible And I do not believe that trade unions or workers want to rip of employers
Trust and respect have to be on both sides
So for me employment law should be designed to reflect this, it should aim to encourage mutual respect
So I cannot see that there is a need to stop unions striking Employees are (normally) rational people It is not in the interests of an employee to strike unless they feel a real grievance So why treat employyes as though they wanted to wreck the work place The employee has as much and sometimes a greater investment in his job He or she should be granted legal framework where this can flourish.
Treat any person on the basis he will behave badly and he or she will do just that. Trust and respect them and they will act with trust and respect.
I do not subscribe to the view that the super rich will go elsewhere if we do not allow them free reign to behave any way they wish. even if certain wealthy entrepruners did decide to go exploit workers abroad ratehr than in this country others would rise up If the Royal Bank or Standard Life or … any excessively wealthy financier banker bus entrepreneur , or any employer went forth of Scotland as was threatened during the Referendum, do the English REALLY feel that we would be left with no bank financial institution or bus company. Scots have been famous for innovation and invention We do not need tax breaks off shore havens or anything else to have an operating bank chain of shops or coffee houses online warehouses or to continue with society as we know it The English have ling had a culture of assuming that leader ship is inbred to only a few individuals – it is called feudalism or the class structure It is no part of the Scottish mentality and we can manage our society if the super rich choose to flee to cheaper tax regimes or laws allowing exploitation
