1066 one young William landed in and took control of / conquered England and eventually Scotland.    Imposing feudalism aka Law of the Jungle.  Might was Right.   Poverty was wrong and hell mend you.  Climb over people or starve.

Before 1066 customary law prevailed   Sort of local rule by the people and for the people .    Power to rule came form the people.

But William’s idea was that he was stronger and so what he wanted happened.  With an iron fist.    The country was now run for the  benefit of those at the top – the monarchy, the fount of all ….whatever.    Then the aristocracy and so on down the ladder .     Each level – like in political parties – owing its position to the person above but not to society at large.

We in 2016 NEED to change that     We NEED to get back to power from the people to the people for the people

See page Land Reform – Farms

I am reminded of a story of an Aboriginal in Australia queuing the concept of Land Ownership being like two flies arguing who owns which piece of shit.

If we start to see resources – land and everything else as there for the common good then we can start to make laws that are fair and just to all and work for all.     With respect to Lesley above she is – unusual for her – almost apologetic to the land owner for limiting his  “absolute” right.

I am NOT against ownership   I am not a communist      But I believe that ownership is not an absolute right.     We are merely custodians for the next generation.    We will all die   What then of “our” ownership.    cf the flies and the shit!    Lets get a sense of proportion back?    Land is and has to be there for the common good and any ownership must be on such an understanding.

After all if I want to open a tannery in Leith then no way   It will disturb everyone else’s enjoyment.       But a land owner wants to sell and turn a farmer out hen that is OK?    An island changes hands and all worry about their new “owner”    Come on!
